Ferrero UK has expanded its presence in the frozen aisle with the launch of Kinder Bueno ice cream cones.
Available in both single cones and multipacks of four (RRP £4.95) in two flavours, Kinder Bueno Classic and Kinder Bueno White, Ferrero’s latest addition to the ice cream category builds on the recent launch of its Nutella Ice Cream Tub, which has been a strong performer since coming to the market earlier this year.
The brand noted that the UK’s ‘filled cones’ ice cream segment is the third largest in the ice cream category, making up 11% of the market with £163m in value sales.
The two new ice cream cones feature hazelnut ice cream, a disc of Kinder Bueno chocolate decorated with crispy cocoa sprinkles, and a crunchy hazelnut-cocoa core, all wrapped in a crispy wafer cone with a hazelnut and cocoa tip. They are rolling out in Morrisons this week.
Dani Hayward-Bradley, Regional Marketing Director of Ice Cream at Ferrero, said: “The Kinder Bueno ice cream cones first launched across Europe several years ago and have delivered an exceptional performance to date. What’s more, when launched in Ireland last March, Kinder Bueno ice cream cones were hailed as two of the best performing new products in the category, demonstrating the potential opportunity on offer to drive additional ice cream sales in the UK market.
“Whilst compared to Europe the UK ice cream cones market is smaller, Kinder Bueno’s latest launch presents a huge opportunity for retailers to excite both Kinder Bueno and ice cream shoppers alike, driving additional sales in the category.”
