Plastic-free period brand Mooncup has secured a listing with Sainsbury’s, launching online and in 200 stores across the country.
The brand noted that shoppers will now be able to purchase the Mooncup Original in a Big Four supermarket for the first time, plus &SISTERS by Mooncup period pads.
“We’re so excited to be launching Mooncup Original for the first time ever in a Big Four grocer and providing Sainsbury’s shoppers with our range of high-quality, sustainable period care that puts their health first,” said Lucy Lettice, Mooncup Chief of Periods.
She added: “Sainsbury’s have been making huge strides when it comes to reducing their plastic use across their business, such as being the first retailer to remove single-use plastic from loose produce, so launching our plastic-free period care range is a real testament to their environmental commitments.
“The period care and bladder care aisle is one of the most plastic intensive aisles in supermarkets because both packaging and product itself are plastic, by bringing a plastic free brand like Mooncup into store it is a step closer to reducing the use of plastic packaging by 50% by 2025. We’re on a mission to make plastic-free period care the norm and make it accessible to all. It’s committed retailers like Sainsbury’s that help us get closer to achieving this.”
