Ocean Spray Launching Chilled ‘No Added Sugar’ Variant

Cranberry juice brand Ocean Spray is launching a No Added Sugar variant (1litre, RRP £1.75) into its chilled range. This follows the success of its ambient No Added Sugar product, which for the first time, has outperformed its flagship Cranberry Classic ambient variety in both value and volume sales.

Ocean-spray-chilledLaunching into the Tesco chilled juice aisle this summer, the new chilled Ocean Spray Cranberry No Added Sugar comes as increasing numbers of consumers are seeking less sugar in their drinks.

Jo Dickinson, senior UK Marketing Manager at Ocean Spray, commented: “Ocean Spray is the only branded cranberry juice in the chilled juice aisle, and as such, it is essential we lead the way through innovation by providing no added sugar solutions and healthier options for consumers, particularly in chilled where there seems to be a perception among consumers that fresh or chilled equals better-for-you.

In Chilled Take Home Juice and Juice Drinks, Ocean Spray is gaining value share, with value sales increasing year on year against a backdrop of total brands’ value sales being in decline.  In category terms, currently ambient is outperforming chilled, with Ambient Take Home now the fastest-growing category across both value and volume sales, having increased by 16.3% & 4.1% respectively in the last quarter. Ocean Spray is the leading cranberry juice brand in both chilled and ambient.

As part of a push to increase penetration of the Ocean Spray brand amongst a wider range of consumers, Ocean Spray is taking a new version of its ‘Be Your Berry Best’ advertising campaign on TV this July. The new TV ad, which originally debuted in April 2022, has been updated to highlight messages around taste and health.
