Pladis is introducing a new Caramelised Red Onion flavour to its growing Carr’s Melts range.
The brand noted that Carr’s Melts (Original and Cheese) have performed well, with annual sales now worth £9.3m. Pladis stated that it had spotted an opportunity for retailers to drive incremental growth with Carr’s Melts Caramelised Red Onion, which is a particularly popular flavour amongst younger, affluent family shoppers who are looking to trade up.
“We’re seeing consistently high demand for top-quality and top-tasting savoury snacks, especially with more people spending time at home and valuing togetherness,” said Asli Askman – Marketing Director at pladis UK&I.
“Our Carr’s Melts flavour range has quickly become a firm favourite for shoppers looking to add a touch of indulgence to their snacks, particularly in the evening.
“With this latest flavour, we wanted to capture the essence of a classic cheese board favourite while offering shoppers a snack that can be enjoyed across lots of different occasions. Currently bought by almost 1.4M households in the UK, caramelised onion is already a popular flavour when it comes to savoury biscuits. So, it was a natural next step for us to put our own Carr’s Melts spin on it.”
Carr’s Caramelised Red Onion Flavour Melts have launched in Waitrose in 150g boxes (RRP: £1.99), and further rollout is planned across multiple retail, convenience, and wholesale outlets.
