Planted Secures Listing In Tesco

Plant-based meat alternative brand Planted has secured a new listing in Tesco. The Planted range, consisting of 3 SKUs, will be available to buy across 350 stores from today and debuts its new style packaging.

One of the SKUs, planted.duck Hoisin, is a new product for the brand and will debut exclusively in Tesco stores. The others are planted.chicken Lemon and Herb and planted.kebab, all with an RRP of £3.

planted-tescoPlanted claims to be the new standard in the plant-based meat industry thanks to its clean-label approach and goal to give meat eaters “delicious, sustainable and healthy choices everyday without any sacrifices”. Planted’s range does not contain additives and includes dietary fibres whilst containing all essential amino acids to ensure it is quality source of protein.

VP of Commercial, Europe, Rob Reames, said: “At Planted, we’re bucking the trend of plant-based doomsters with a launch into a major retailer with a brand new packaging to boot. It’s a real moment for the business, particularly as we’ll also be launching our delicious hoisin duck, which has been created due to high consumer demand.”

NAM Implications:
  • The key issue for plant-based foods is ensuring delivery of experience overcomes the price-premium vs. traditional equivalent.
  • That said, and given Tesco distribution…
  • …others will follow.
