Squeaky Bean Launches New Bacon Alternative

Ready-to-eat meat alternative brand Squeaky Bean is expanding its line-up with the launch of Crispy Bacon Style Strips.

Squeaky-Bean-Crispy-Bacon-Style-StripsThe plant-based product is said to “flawlessly replicate” streaky crispy bacon, with a sweet and salty taste and crispy texture.

The latest launch builds on Squeaky Bean’s innovation in the plant-based category, with recent launches including supermarket firsts such as its Cooking Chorizo Style Sausage and Beechwood Smoked Salmon Style Slices.

The Crispy Bacon Style Strips will be available in selected Sainsbury’s stores and online from 25 September (RRP £2.75 – 50g per pack).

The brand pointed to research showing that 50% of vegans and vegetarians miss the taste of bacon. Squeaky Bean’s Crispy Bacon Style Strips have been designed to address a gap in the plant-based category with a ready-to-eat product that can be used in sandwiches, salads, or eaten straight from the pack for a hit of protein.

Jen Herbert, Head of Marketing at Squeaky Bean, said: “Research shows that bacon continues to come out top of the list of the foods that vegans and vegetarians miss the most, but until now, there hasn’t been a plant-based ready-to-eat bacon that can dare to compare to its meat counterpart.

“At Squeaky Bean, we are all about creating delicious plant-based alternatives that taste just as good as meat, so it felt right to take on the challenge of creating a first-to-market plant-based ready-to-eat bacon. The result is plant-based bacon with the same characteristic streaks and crispy texture, that are perfect for creating vegan versions of classic dishes such as Caesar salads, BLT sandwiches or maple syrup pancakes.”
