Steens Honey Secures New Listing With Sainsbury’s

Steens Honey has partnered with Sainsbury’s to provide a new product offering to their range.

Steens-HoneySteens Raw Mānuka Honey is the only Mānuka Honey on the market that is entirely raw and unpasteurised, with no fine filters used in extraction through to packing. It is rolling out in a new 340g Squeezy format in Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.

With strong sales in the UK over the last 15 years, Steens Honey is currently outperforming the category. The company’s CEO Emma Hulse commented: “Steens Honey is a truly premium, high-quality product and as close to nature as you can get. There is a consumer movement against highly processed foods and an increase in popularity of the ‘food is medicine’ mantra. Steens offers a wholefood option with minimal processing, and this is feeding our success in all markets. Thanks to the growing awareness and vast health benefits that natural wholefoods offer, our Mānuka honey is growing rapidly in popularity not only in the UK but across the US, EU and further afield”.

In the US, the total honey market grew by 5.1% on last year’s figures to reach £198m, with Mānuka Honey representing 13.6% of total honey sales value. Sales of Mānuka Honey have also grown by 1% year on year, along with the volume share.
