Blanco Niño, an Irish manufacturer with a mission to accelerate the transition to regenerative farming, has announced that it will launch its tortilla chips in Whole Foods Market and Co-op this July. The expansion marks a significant milestone for the brand, providing nationwide shelf coverage for the first time and introducing UK consumers to its traditionally made tortilla chips.
Blanco Niño tortilla chips are made using an ancient Aztec process known as nixtamalisation. This involves slow-cooking whole corn overnight in limewater, then grinding it with volcanic stones, and baking the resulting dough into tortillas. These tortillas are then rested overnight, cut, and lightly fried to create chips of “unparalleled quality and flavour”.
Blanco Niño is committed to sustainability and regenerative farming practices with their mission to accelerate the transition to regenerative agriculture. The product packaging is fully recyclable and the cardboard is sourced from FSC-certified suppliers.
Blanco Niño will launch in 350 Co-op stores with their Smoky Chipotle and Chilli & Lime flavours, and in seven Whole Foods Market stores across London with all five flavours.
Phil Martin, Founder and CEO of Blanco Niño, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with our friends in Wholefoods and Co-op, who have been incredible supporters of our mission. It’s a big milestone for us, and we’re very excited to see people across the UK finally getting access to our traditional tortilla chips, helping us in our mission to accelerate the transition to regenerative farming.”
