Amid surging demand for ‘Dubai style’ chocolate bars, Waitrose is launching its first own-label version.
The No.1 White Chocolate & Pistachio Nuts with Sea Salt bar will be available in its stores from Monday, priced at £2.75 (100g). The bar is different from others on the market, with the retailer having added pistachio paste to the white chocolate, making it pistachio green in colour. The bar is also laced with chopped pistachios for a more authentic pistachio flavour and crunch, with no katif pastry in sight.
Sarah Breadmore, Confectionary Product Developer at Waitrose, said: “We sold almost four times as many No.1 Cracking Pistachio Easter eggs this year than we did 2024, selling out both years. So it is obvious customers are loving that sweet, salty, pistachio flavour. We’ve taken the flavours of the white chocolate, pistachio and more importantly, its distinct colour and turned it into a bar for customers to enjoy all year round.
“It’s totally different from the Dubai-style chocolate bars we keep seeing pop up in the market – dare I say, it’s better! We can’t wait to see the reaction from customers, I know they won’t be disappointed.”
