Yoplait Expands Into Adult Yoghurts

Yoplait is extending its reach into the adult yoghurt category by launching SKYR Natural, which is based on an Icelandic recipe.

Currently the number one selling product in France out of the total Chilled Yoghurt and Dairy (CYD) category, Yoplait stated that it expects SKYR to shake up the plain and natural category in the UK when it hits shelves this month.

One of the fastest growing segments of the yoghurt category, plain and natural is growing at 18.2% in volume and 21.7% in value and recruiting new consumers into the total yoghurt category.

“In the UK, we are famous for our iconic kids’ yoghurt brands, including Petits Filous and Frubes, but globally, we have a much wider repertoire, and our ambition is to bring our wider yoghurt expertise and innovation to UK consumers and retailers,” said Antoine Hours, General Manager at Yoplait UK.

“Yoplait SKYR is an outstanding success in France and Ireland, and we are looking to replicate this success in the UK. Our credentials are rooted in great-tasting yoghurt, and consumers have told us that Yoplait SKYR has all the elements that they are looking for from a natural yoghurt.”

Launching initially in Ocado and Iceland, Yoplait SKYR is available in 450g pots with an RRP of £2.25.

Yoplait is supporting the launch of SKYR with a targeted in-store and online campaign.
