Central Co-op Makes Member Offers Available To Other Societies

Central Co-op has begun a trial that sees over 100 Member offers available to members of several other Co-op Societies.

The new discounts are on top of the more than 100 existing Member prices found exclusively at Central Co-op, while the 113 additions are offers also seen in other Societies across the UK.

Starting this week, all Co-op Members can benefit from discounts on both own-label and branded lines at Central Co-op, covering everyday items like tea and coffee, sweet treats, pet food and cleaning products.

The Co-operative Member offers are identified by green point of sale materials picturing multiple Membership cards, while Central Co-op Members will see existing yellow messages on the shelves for their exclusive deals.

The group stated that the introduction of the Co-operative Member offers aimed to simplify the shopping experience for customers, with discounts automatically applied when they present their Membership cards during checkout.

Last week, the Co-op Group announced that it was ditching its 2p for every £1 spent rewards offer to focus on a “significantly increased” number of member-only prices and deals.

NAM Implications:
  • All the advantages of being a Co-op…
  • …with scale potential an incremental advantage.
  • Now, why not let it spread?
  • (Opportunities for suppliers to get aboard)
