Co-op And John Lewis Extend Click & Collect Tie-Up

The new John Lewis click & collect service from Co-op stores is being extended to more than 50 sites.

The department store chain started partnering with the c-store operator in May, with customers able to pick up online orders from six Co-op food stores.  John Lewis stated at the time that the move was aimed at expanding its reach to areas around the UK which don’t have one of its shops close by.

The click & collect service will now be available in towns and cities across the country, including Bristol, Cambridge, Derby, Leicester, London, Manchester, Nottingham, Plymouth, and Wrexham. The phased roll out will be completed by the end of October.

The Co-op’s Director of Retail Support, Mark Pettigrew, said: “This latest development enables Co-op to enrich its offer in more communities. We continually look to ways to evolve in order to meet the needs of our Members and customers, and our initial trial has been very well received – creating added choice, ease and convenience for time-pressed shoppers.”

John Lewis and The Co-op released contrasting interim results yesterday. The Co-op’s core food business delivered a healthy rise in sales and profits, whilst weak performance in its department stores resulted in the John Lewis Partnership posting its first-ever half-year loss.
