Co-op Grows New ‘On The Go’ Concept

After the launch of its new ‘on the go’ micro store format over the summer, Co-op has opened a second site in the Stamford Quarter, Altrincham, a busy neighbourhood and shopping destination.

The ‘on the go’ concept is designed for high-footfall areas, with a range dedicated to serving the growing ‘food-on-the-go’ consumer culture. It offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in new formats, from traditional meal deals to the inclusion of a hot food counter and deli-inspired selections.

Between 7am and 7pm, the new Stamford Quarter store will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offer home delivery. After 7pm, the store transitions to online trading only, which includes Co-op’s Irresistible Pizzas, cooked and delivered via its quick commerce partners, Just Eat, Deliveroo, and Uber Eats.

Co-op stated that it is now focused on scaling the roll-out of its new format store, with an ambition of reaching several hundred sites within the next two to three years.

“The whole team is excited to launch our new concept store in the Stamford Quarter,” said Gary Williams, Co-op Director of Store Optimisation.

“We continually look for new ways to get closer to our customers and deliver added convenience. Our new concept brings together an innovative blend of food-to-go propositions, with freshly prepared products designed to stand out in this vibrant and thriving community. Whether in store or online, we cater to ‘on-the-go’ meals throughout the day, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, you will find delicious products, quick service, quality and value, and all in a great convenient location.”
