Co-op To Supply Food-To-Go Range To Superdrug

The Co-op has struck a deal with Superdrug which will see it supply the health & beauty chain with a food-to-go range.

During a trial phase, the Co-op will supply its own brand products to seven Superdrug outlets located at railway stations and airports from this summer. The range will include more than 40 food products, such as sandwiches, salads and fruit. It will include vegan and gluten-free options.

Shoppers can add a Superdrug snack and drink to the Co-op own brand ‘main’ to complete a meal deal, which will be priced at under £4 in airports.

The Superdrug branches taking park in the trial are located in East Midlands, Bristol and Edinburgh Airports, and in Brighton, Sheffield, and London’s Victoria and Fenchurch Street Railway Stations.

“We are delighted to be introducing Co-op food-to-go in some of our travel branches,” said Superdrug’s head of convenience Chris Brown.

“We know our customers will appreciate the range available, and the fact it offers a great value choice for busy commuters and travellers.”

Co-op Food Trading Director Matt Hood added: “Becoming food-to-go partner for Superdrug is an exciting development as Co-op continues to grow its brand, further increasing the accessibility of own brand products.

“These transport hubs provide an exciting and dynamic location to meet the shopping needs of busy consumers and offer our value and values conveniently.”

The Co-op has been expanding the reach of own label offering by rolling it out to its Nisa chain and supplying it to 2,200 Costcutter stores through a wholesale agreement.

NAM Implications:
  • Own label suppliers to the Co-op might usefully prepare for a full roll-out to all travel outlets of Superdrug…
  • …and go for it…
