Grocemania Secures Tie-Up With Unilever

Same-day grocery delivery service Grocemania has announced a new partnership with Unilever.

GrocemaniaLaunched last year, Grocemania allows consumers to buy groceries from local, independent convenience stores and have them delivered to their home within as little as one hour. The startup has now partnered with Unilever to enable users to buy their ice creams from 80 locations across the UK from 1 June.

Unilever ice cream products such as Ben & Jerry’s, Magnum and Twister, will be available via Grocemania’s app and website. They will be sold at retail price, with discounts available for bundles of multiple products. There is no minimum spend with delivery fees based on total order value.

Grocemania is already working with hundreds of retailers across the UK, including Budgens, Nisa, Londis and Costcutter stores, as well as independents.

Askar Bulegenov, founder and director of Grocemania, said: “Throughout the coronavirus lockdown, demand for grocery delivery services has soared. By working with Unilever, we are ensuring more people have access to a wider range of products from the safety of their own home. We’re excited to be working with such a renowned name like Unilever and look forward to seeing where the partnership takes us.”

Grocemania’s same-day delivery service is now operational across London, Bristol and Brighton, with expansion into Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Birmingham set to be completed by July.

NAM Implications:
  • Eventually the development of these new routes to consumer (DTC etc.)
  • …will begin to erode mults’ share.
  • Time now for suppliers to anticipate re-negotiation?
