Nisa Extends MPK Forecourt Partnership And Bourne Leisure Holiday Parks Deal

Nisa and forecourt operator MPK Garages have announced the addition of 17 new co-branded Pop-In Daily / Nisa stores to their growing portfolio.

Following the transition of 11 former Morrisons Daily stores earlier this year, the new locations, which formerly operated under the Londis symbol group, will further bolster MPK’s retail estate with Nisa to a total of 28 stores.

Primarily situated in the Midlands, with additional stores along the M5 between Birmingham and Bristol, as well as the M1 between Nottingham and Durham, the forecourt sites range in size from 1,000 sq. ft. to 3,000 sq. ft. They focus on food-to-go and chilled offerings, with each store now featuring an expanded range of products, including a selection of Co-op own brand items.

Wayne Harrand, Retail Director at MPK Garages, noted his satisfaction with the initial transition of the 11 Morrisons stores, citing a “seamless process and positive performance”. This led to the decision to migrate the remainder of MPK’s store portfolio to the Nisa supply chain.

Victoria Lockie, Head of Retail at Nisa, commented: “I’m absolutely delighted that 17 additional MPK stores will be joining Nisa over the coming months. Wayne and the team have proved to be fantastic to deal with since we began our relationship with the original 11 stores, and I’m sure the relationship between Nisa and MPK will continue to grow from strength to strength.”

Meanwhile, Nisa is growing its holiday park convenience store portfolio after extending its contract with operator Bourne Leisure.

The wholesaler already supplies 177 holiday park convenience stores across the UK, with 12 signed up so far in 2023 – a figure that represents its strongest year of recruitment since the pandemic.

Sales in Nisa’s holiday park convenience estate rose by over 30% in 2022, and it believes the growth will continue this year as ‘staycations’ continue to be popular.

As well as Bourne Leisure – the parent company of Haven Holidays and Warner Leisure Hotels – Nisa supplies other holiday park operators such as Center Parcs and J&J Wilson.

Nisa’s six-year partnership across 49 stores owned by Bourne Leisure has recently been extended with two stores in Thorpe Park and Perran Sands taking on Nisa fascia.

Bill Marney, grocery category development manager at Bourne Leisure, said: “The Nisa brand is well known across the country, so incorporating the Nisa fascia makes an obvious connection for customers who are seeking value. Access to a comprehensive range of products is essential to us given we have such a range of stores across our estate.”

Lockie added: “We have seen continued growth within many of our holiday park customers and Bourne Leisure are a great example of that. We know across retail that shoppers are looking for value and that is the same when it comes to holidays.”
