Tesco’s One Stop subsidiary has revealed that it opened 27 new company stores over the last 12 months. This is the most stores the convenience retailer has opened in a single year for the past five years.
One Stop noted that each new store was carefully chosen to meet the needs of customers in each area.
Nick Riches, Store Acquisitions Lead at One Stop, said: “Our success is not only built on strong partnerships and collaboration, but also securing spaces in the right place at the right time. We remain committed to delivering exceptional service and value to customers in every community we serve.”
The retailer stated that it would continue with its expansion plans in the coming years. It currently has a portfolio of over 1,000 company-owned and franchise stores.
Riches added: “We focus on occupying leasehold retail spaces ranging from 2,500 to 3,000 square feet in size, which can be greenfield or brownfield developments, public houses/ building conversions or existing retail units. However, we always encourage landlords, commercial agents to get in touch if they’re interested in working with us, regardless of our suggested requirements.
“We’re looking forward to another year of growth at One Stop, with particularly focus on existing businesses and vacant units in the first six months of the year.”
