Independent retailer Ashish Gajjar has launched the first Go Local Extra store in Southampton, marking another milestone in Parfetts’ south of England expansion.
The new 1,600 sq. ft. Palmerston Road store opened recently, before Parfetts unveiled its first cash & carry depot in Southampton.
With over 14 years of experience in retail, Gajjar has six other convenience stores in Southampton, with this being his first under the Go Local Extra symbol brand.
The store features a chilled range, a wide licensed section, international foods, and a food-to-go offer, including Tango Ice Blast, Rollover Hotdogs, and fresh coffee.
Ashish said: “Opening the store in this location was a great opportunity as the local community and student population were crying out for a store that could meet their needs. I am so grateful to the Parfetts team for their support in helping me open in under four weeks. From the start, they’ve been there with advice and guidance, and the result has exceeded all expectations.
“The store looks fantastic and truly reflects the community we serve. The layout makes it very easy to shop, which will help us grow the business. The feedback we’ve had from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive, which has made everything worthwhile. The whole process has been seamless, and I’m excited to build on this strong start by introducing more value promotions and expanding our offer.”
Parfetts’ new 113,000 sq ft depot in Southampton is its most southernly site, and will supply Go Local, Go Local Extra, The Local and Shop & Go fascias and retailers across the region.
Guy Swindell, joint managing director of Parfetts, commented: “Southampton is central to our southern growth strategy. Launching a Go Local Extra store alongside our first cash and carry depot here demonstrates our ambition. Ashish has created a superb store that shows the strength of the Go Local brand, and we’re looking forward to supporting more retailers across the region with our award-winning symbol group.”
