The society stated that his appointment was part of the ongoing growth of its Data, Digital and Loyalty team following the refresh of its Membership programme and launch of the Co-op app last year.

For the last three years, Meagher has been Head of Customer Insight at Tesco, focused on areas such as marketing communications and the supermarket’s Clubcard loyalty scheme.

Before that, he held insight leadership roles at various consumer goods companies, including Unilever, Mondelēz International, and Kraft Foods.

At the Co-op, Meagher will report to Charlotte Lock, Director of Data, Digital and Loyalty. He will lead on insight and research for the group’s core food retail division and other businesses.

Meagher said: “For me, joining the Co-op is a great opportunity to be part of what must be one of the original, and certainly most enduring, purpose-led businesses, founded long before the term was even coined.

“As an insights expert, the way the group spans across both significant and everyday moments in customers lives gives us a really precious resource in connecting data-sets to drive strong customer understanding and empathy.”

Lock added: “Thanks to his loyalty club experiences, Nick will play an instrumental part in helping us to supercharge our membership commitments, as well as make meaningful differences to the lives of our members and communities.”

NAM Implications:
  • The Co-op have come a long way in 10 years.
  • This move could accelerate the process…
