Uber Eats has linked up with Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Walkers and Pepsi to offer free delivery on orders from convenience stores operating on its platform.
There are currently more than 600 convenience stores listed of the Uber Eats app, including Costcutter, Londis, Select & Save, and Bargain Booze stores.
With convenience stores playing a key role in feeding local communities during the coronavirus outbreak, the delivery company is also waiving the activation fee for all new retailers signing up to its app. It will be offering contactless delivery to protect customers and couriers.
Toussaint Wattinne, Uber Eats UK General Manager, said: “We want to play our part and help people get the food they need delivered directly to their door during this difficult time. With over 600 convenience stores on Uber Eats, we hope that this free delivery will help people across the UK and are extremely grateful to our partners for their support.”
The offer will initially be open until at least 24 April but may be extended.
NAM Implications:
- Suppliers, retailers and consumers are finding new ways of working together to survive the coronavirus crisis.
- Key will be how much becomes permanent, post-crisis.
- A ‘what-if’ to that effect might be beneficial.
