Aldi Confirms Store Closure Plans For Festive Period

Aldi has confirmed it will close all of its stores on Boxing Day in line with previous years.

The discounter will close for Christmas Day and reopen on Saturday 27th December. Stores will also be closed on New Year’s Day, reopening on Friday 2nd January.

Opening hours will vary in the days leading up to Christmas, with Aldi operating extended hours to ensure its customers can stock up ahead of the big day.

Rebecca Heley, Communications Director at Aldi UK, commented: “Christmas is a special time, and we want to ensure all of our colleagues have the opportunity to relax and enjoy it with their loved ones. That’s why all Aldi stores will be closed on Boxing Day this year.

“We know how hard colleagues work to deliver an amazing Christmas for our customers, and this is one small way of saying thank you.”

NAM Implications:
  • No apparent loss of share of trade for Aldi by closing on previous Boxing Days.
  • (Almost as difficult to measure as gain of goodwill…)
