Aldi has announced further price cuts in the UK and Ireland as it continues to pass on reduced cost pressures to its customers.
In the UK, Aldi has lowered the prices on a range of fruit and veg products, noting that it was helping people eat well for less.
The discounter’s latest price drop – the biggest round of cuts it has announced so far this year – represents around a quarter of its produce range, with more than 50 items falling in price by an average of 7%. This includes berries, grapes, tomatoes, apples and ready-to-eat salads.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “This year we’re aiming to cut more prices than ever before – helping our customers access the lowest prices possible.
“At Aldi, we are committed to making healthy and varied diets affordable for all – with many customers often coming to us for our low prices but staying for the award-winning quality.”
Meanwhile, in Ireland, Aldi has announced price cuts across 81 products, including meat, bread, yoghurt, tomatoes, biscuits, bagels and some confectionery lines.
The latest round of cuts is part of an investment of more than €12m from the discounter and brings the total number of items that have seen reductions in Ireland so far this year to more than 230.
Aldi confirmed that the price cuts will not impact the prices paid to local suppliers.
“In 2024, we continue to focus on providing our Irish customers with great quality products at the lowest possible prices,” said Colin Breslin, the Managing Director of buying and services at Aldi Ireland.
“Our commitment to our customers remains as it has always been – we will provide the best value in the market, and will not be beaten on price. Today’s announcement is yet another demonstration of that commitment.”
