Aldi has again been named as the UK’s cheapest supermarket in an independent price analysis.
The comparison survey by trade magazine The Grocer is based on a basket of 33 everyday items across all the major supermarkets. Morrisons was the most expensive Big Four chain, with its basket costing 18% (£9.86) more than Aldi’s £54.89.
Lidl was a close second at £54.91, while Asda was third at £59.74.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “For all the talk about promotions, the reality is that when it comes to price, nobody can match Aldi. We’ve always promised our customers that we will never be beaten on price and, yet again, this survey confirms it.”
