Aldi is stepping up its Christmas activity with plans to open a Bottomless Pigs in Blankets Restaurant later this month.
Located in North London’s Camden Passage (N1), the pop-up restaurant will allow visitors to ‘Press for PIBs’ and enjoy a six-course menu of Aldi’s biggest pigs in blankets range to date.
The offering includes limited-edition Specially Selected Brie & Cranberry Candy Cane Pigs in Blankets and Specially Selected Caramelised Onion Chipolatas – recently awarded ‘Best Pig in Blankets’ at this year’s BBC Good Food Christmas Taste Test.
Guests can also enjoy a bottomless supply of Aldi’s Butcher’s Select Pigs in Blankets and Specially Selected Pigs in Blankets Handcooked Crisps.
Meanwhile, meat-free restaurant-goers will be offered the discounter’s Plant Menu Ultimate Vegan Pigs in Blankets.
Prosecco and soft drinks will also be available for guests.
The restaurant will be open from Friday 24 November to Saturday 25 November, with tickets available for £5 per person via Eventbrite. Proceeds will be donated to surplus food charity Neighbourly.
Aldi pointed to research that revealed pigs in blankets have become so popular at Christmas that 29% of people prefer them to roast potatoes, and 38% would choose them over traditional turkey.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “The famous pigs in blankets has always been a popular Christmas trimming, and our research really does show it to be a mighty festive staple for Brits across the nation.
“Launching a Pigs in Blanket Restaurant is a chance for Aldi fans to enjoy our biggest range yet – and not just on Christmas Day. Focusing on quality, price and innovation, we want to create a memorable experience that allows pigs in blankets lovers to enjoy our unique range while celebrating with friends and family.”
Last year, Aldi sold more than 38 million pigs in blankets, with sales expected to increase to over 43 million this year.
