Aldi UK Highlights Increased Investment With Local Suppliers

Aldi has revealed that it spent an additional £1.3bn with British suppliers in 2023.

The discounter, which opened its 1,000th store in the UK last year, highlighted that it now works with around 5,000 British suppliers and growers that provide more than three-quarters of all items it sells.

“British suppliers are the lifeblood of our business and without them Aldi wouldn’t be where it is today. We will always be at their side,” said Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK.

“Longstanding relationships with suppliers are at the heart of our success, and we are proud to work with so many British suppliers, helping to bolster job opportunities and investment in the UK supply chain.”

Aldi recently announced a long-term plan to open another 500 stores across Britain, whilst investing more than £1.4bn over the next two years in expanding and improving its operations.
