Another Round Of Price Cuts At Aldi

Aldi is ramping up the battle for Christmas shoppers with yet another round of price cuts.

The discounter has lowered prices on nearly 40 products by an average of almost 10%, including meat, fish, bakery, coffee, and breakfast items.

Aldi recently announced an investment of around £12m in cutting the cost of seasonal staples, having already lowered the prices of almost 300 products in the past few months as cost pressures in the food industry start to ease.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We know that this time of year can be an expensive time for everyone, which is why we are cutting more prices than ever before in December.

“Our commitment to always keep our prices as low as possible for customers is going nowhere, and we continue to see shoppers switch to Aldi for this very reason.”

Earlier this week, Aldi stated that it was on course for its biggest-ever Christmas after a year of further market share gains.

NAM Implications:
  • Headline catchers, at least.
  • But potential traffic drivers also.
  • For the fastest-growing UK retailer.
  • Time for suppliers to find better reasons for being on board?
