Lidl has confirmed the launch of its loyalty app in the UK, which offers various savings and benefits to customers.
The discounter rolled out the digital ‘Lidl Plus’ scheme in the Republic of Ireland last month and flagged that it would be arriving in the UK soon.
Consumers in Great Britain can now download the app from Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Once registered, shoppers can activate weekly coupons and scan them at the checkout e.g. £5 off a £25 spend. There will also be digital scratch cards which offer instant prizes and further savings on Lidl’s products.
As well as discounts, the app includes features such as a store locator, digital receipt storage, and weekly promotion leaflets. There is also a ‘Partner Offers’ section with discounts from other firms such as Sky TV and the Cinema Society.
The app is still in a test phase with an official launch date of 3 September.
A Lidl spokesperson said: “We are always looking at ways to drive innovation for our customers, and Lidl Plus is another way of doing this whilst continuing to offer the highest quality products at the lowest prices. It is currently in a testing phase and once it rolls out with more money-saving features we will be sure to communicate with all our customers.”
The virtual loyalty card has been rolled out to Germany, Austria, Spain, Denmark, Poland and The Netherlands over the last couple of years, with Belgium being another recent addition in February. Once downloaded, the app can be used in all Lidl Plus enabled countries.
NAM Implications:
- Every Lidl helps…
- Best keep in mind that Lidl (and Aldi) were those…
- …common, down market, foreign discounters that could never succeed in the sophisticated UK grocery market.
