Aldi has been named the UK’s Favourite Supermarket at the annual Good Housekeeping Food Awards.
The title, which was voted for by the publication’s readers, was one of five accolades awarded to the discounter. It also claimed top spot for Favourite Wine Retailer, Favourite Premium Supermarket Range for its Specially Selected range, Favourite Supermarket for Fresh Produce, and Favourite Budget Range.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of buying at Aldi, said: “At Aldi we make sure we offer the best quality products, at the best possible prices. We believe that access to great quality food is a right not a privilege.
“And it’s a privilege for us to be named the nation’s favourite supermarket. A lot of hard work goes into making sure we give our shoppers the quality they deserve, and to have that hard work acknowledged by shoppers themselves means all the more to us.”
It is the second time this year that Aldi has been named Britain’s best supermarket, following the grocer’s success at the Retail Week Awards in March.
Aldi’s wine and spirits range was also recognised this year, having been named Multiple Retailer of the Year at the Drink Business Awards last month.
