Amazon Extends Grocery Delivery Service To All Customers And Launches Member Prices

Amazon is ramping up its grocery operation by offering deliveries to all its customers in eligible cities across the UK, with options including Amazon Fresh, Morrisons, Co-op, and Iceland. The online giant has also introduced a new programme offering exclusive promotions and price reductions for members of its Prime scheme.

From today, Amazon customers in more than 100 towns and cities can now get grocery deliveries, a service which was previously only available to Prime members. However, Prime members will continue to have access to more delivery options, exclusive discounts, and free shipping.

Meanwhile, the group’s ‘Prime Member Deals’ programme will launch later this month, offering exclusive promotions on hundreds of grocery products from Amazon Fresh online and its 20 physical stores in London and the southeast. Prime members will receive an additional 10% off Price Cut products in store, as well as exclusive deals online. There will also be weekly member deals offering as much as 50% off on a rotation of products in-store and online.

“Today marks a milestone for us as we extend our grocery deliveries to all Amazon customers, and we are excited for more customers to benefit from our low prices, wide selection, and fast and reliable deliveries,” said Ganesh Rao, VP of Amazon Fresh International.

“We’re also offering even more savings for Prime members when they’re shopping from Amazon Fresh.”

The announcement comes just days after it was revealed that Amazon was ending its direct grocery delivery service in five UK cities following an evaluation of its operations network.

NAM Implications:
  • Adding the Amazon Prime touch to grocery delivery…
  • i.e. low prices, wide selection, and fast and reliable deliveries.
