Deliveroo is continuing the expansion in London of its rapid grocery delivery service, HOP.
The latest new ‘dark’ stores are in Canning Town with Morrisons and Kentish Town with Waitrose. They offer key lines from each retailer, with on-demand access from 8am-11pm, 7 days a week. Deliveroo claims its network of riders can make deliveries within minutes.
Deliveroo HOP is now operating in approximately 70% of London boroughs, with data showing that the top-selling grocery items ordered since the start of the year include bananas, avocados, chicken breast fillets, free range eggs, and sweetclem easy peelers.
Deliveroo first launched its rapid delivery service in 2021 to complement the company’s existing on-demand grocery service, which delivers from around 8,000 partner grocery stores across the UK, including Morrisons, Co-op, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Whole Foods.
Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer UK&I at Deliveroo, said: “HOP has gone from strength to strength since launching in 2021. Its enduring popularity demonstrates the importance that our customers place on accessing fresh groceries, delivered straight to their doorstep. The success of the service has meant a further expansion across London and we are excited to build on our longstanding and successful partnership with Morrisons and Waitrose to expand our grocery offer to local residents.”
A spokesperson for Morrisons added: “We are really proud to be launching our 11th site with Deliveroo Hop. The recent expansion in Canning Town means we can deliver fresh groceries to our customers in West Ham, Canary Wharf and Stratford in a matter of minutes giving them more reasons to shop at Morrisons.”
