Gorillas Rolls Out Private Label Food & Drink Ranges

Rapid grocery delivery platform Gorillas has entered the private label market with the launch of four of its own brands – Gorillas Daily, Gorillas Premium, Hot Damn, and Start-up Beer.

They are rolling out in Germany, France, the UK, and the Netherlands with around 50 products in 11 of the most demanded categories.

The fast-growing startup said the four brands had been developed based on customer insights to offer “high-quality products that exceed category standards at a fair price”. The first products will be available in the Gorillas app from tomorrow, with additional products being released over the course of the summer.

Kağan Sümer, Founder & CEO of Gorillas, commented: “Offering an excellent customer experience is at the core of Gorillas’ model. Since day one, we wanted to develop our own products with unique flavors and creative packaging to perfectly match the needs and tastes of our customers. Our new private labels are also a key component of our profitability strategy and will enable us to develop new revenue streams across our core markets.

“Additionally, it reinforces our commitment to sustainability as we are focusing on environmentally friendly solutions for production and packaging”.

The Gorillas Daily range covers essentials such as spreads, cold cuts meats, and cheese, while Gorillas Premium offers a selection of higher quality products like fresh pasta and sweet and savory snacks.

Meanwhile, the Hot Damn range focuses on coffee, including beans, coffee grounds, home-recyclable pods, and oat-based drinks. And the Start-up Beer brand will initially cover two craft beers, a Bavarian Helles and a Pale Ale.

In a little over one year, Gorillas has expanded to more than 60 cities, including Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid, New York, Milan and Munich, and built more than 230 warehouses across nine countries.

NAM Implications:
  • Any retailer surviving in the current climate has to consider ways of optimising their skills…
  • And the temptation to launch own label has to be the ultimate test.
  • And rapid delivery is no exception.
