Recipe box service Gousto has announced its expansion into the Republic of Ireland with the launch of a local website.
It offers a choice of 150 monthly recipes delivered directly to consumers’ homes, providing an easy way to cook from scratch. It noted that its recipes have been tailored to meet Irish tastes.
Gousto stated that it plans to “shake-up the Irish dinner market, offering more choice and a lower price point than other local recipe box providers, and also a more convenient offering than the supermarkets”.
Founded in 2012, the company pioneered the recipe kit sector in the UK and is now a profitable £300m plus revenue business and one of Europe’s fastest-growing scale-ups.
“Our research reveals Irish consumers are highly engaged in health, but until now, this has not been reflected in dinner choices across the country,” commented Timo Boldt, Gousto’s founder and CEO.
“We aim to fill this gap in the market with an inspiring range of nutritious, fresh, home-cooked recipes, which make healthy eating simple”.
Gousto has worked with Irish suppliers for the launch in the country, with over one-third of ingredients being sourced from the island of Ireland, including 100% Irish beef and chicken and locally sourced liquid dairy.
In addition to supporting local farmers and producers, Gousto’s expansion in Ireland will create over 30 new jobs in 2025 across management, marketing, food, supply chain and fulfilment. As the business scales, local job creation is expected to increase further.
Boldt added: “Launching into the Republic of Ireland was the natural next step following our successful expansion into Northern Ireland. We will deliver to the nation’s 1.8 million households an unrivalled recipe choice, expanding their cooking repertoire with simple to create dishes from around the world, exceptional value, combined with the convenience to make cooking from scratch the obvious choice, all backed up by local fulfilment and local sourcing.”
