Tesco Accelerating Expansion Of Whoosh Delivery Service In Ireland

Tesco is making its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, available to more shoppers in Ireland.

Tesco-WhooshThe service, which offers grocery deliveries in as little as 45 minutes, has expanded to more locations in Dublin, launched in Galway, and will debut in Cork next week.

Customers within a 4.5km radius of participating Tesco stores can order from a range of more than 3,000 products, including fresh fruit and veg, evening meals, everyday essentials, and selections from the supermarket’s Finest range, as well as alcohol.

Since launching Whoosh in Ireland in April, Tesco has gathered insights to see how Irish consumers are using the rapid delivery service differently from traditional in-store or online shopping.

It found that last-minute dinner ingredients, such as its Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus Ribeye Steak, are popular for a spontaneous meal, in addition to essentials like toilet roll – which has surpassed expectations – and home top-ups such as milk, cheese, and fruit.

It also found that nearly 40% of all Whoosh orders are placed between Friday and Sunday, with Sunday afternoon proving to be the busiest time as shoppers stock up for the week ahead.

Sean Nolan, Online Director at Tesco Ireland, said: “With Tesco Whoosh now available across Dublin and Galway and soon launching in Cork, we’re expanding our market-leading online grocery service to bring rapid delivery to even more Irish customers.

“Whoosh complements our existing Grocery Home Shopping, Same Day Delivery and Click & Collect options – giving customers the flexibility to choose the service that best fits their day. Whether it’s a forgotten essential, a quick lunch, or a last-minute dinner plan, Whoosh helps customers stay topped up without the stress.”

NAM Implications:
  • If it works, why not push to full potential.
  • Watch this one go…
  • And get on board if possible…
