Pret a Manger is to offer customers up to five coffees a day if they sign up to a monthly subscription service. The chain is hoping that the price tag of £20 is low enough to win back some of the business lost in the pandemic.

- A good lock-in initiative.
- Running the numbers at 100% take-up:
- 5×30 = 150 cups per month for £20
- i.e. 13p/cup…
- Given that lockdown consumers may have discovered it is possible to ‘make’ good quality roast filter coffee…
- For approx. 10p/cup (See Waitrose 275g bag of beans @ £3 = say 30 cups)
- Then Pret’s subscription offer is a no-brainer bargain!
