The John Lewis Partnership is hoping to attract potential new customers to its stores by providing access to its Click & Collect distribution network to third party retailers.
A trial with clothing retailer Boden began today. It means Boden’s online customers can pick up their parcels from 30 Waitrose stores a day after ordering.
Click & Collect has been a key driver of Partnership’s online success with 57% of all orders delivered through this service. 25% of packages are collected at John Lewis shops and 75% at Waitrose outlets.
By opening up its Click & Collect network to customers of other retailers, the Partnership is hoping to introduce new customers to its range of products.
Bérangère Michel, Operations Director at John Lewis & Partners, said: “We were one of the first to launch a Click & Collect service at scale in the UK and we’re pleased that the service will now be used by other businesses.
“This is a great example of how we are combining the capabilities of John Lewis and Waitrose to deliver what retail needs, at a time when the sector is changing at an extraordinary pace.”
Earlier this year, John Lewis launched a click & collect service that allowed its customers to pick up their orders from Co-op food stores as part of moves to expand its reach around the UK.

- Remains to be seen if other retailers will drive traffic to a rival…
- Meanwhile, NAMs could usefully explore their options arising from a further increase in online for JLP trade partners…
