M&S To Thank Customers And Staff With Treats And Discounts Following Cyber Attack

In the wake of the damaging cyber attack on Marks & Spencer’s computer systems, the retailer has announced that its Sparks loyalty scheme is now back online and will feature a range of treats and rewards as a ‘thank you’ to customers for their loyalty during the period.

The retailer said that shoppers will be “surprised” with a range of rewards across its Fashion & Home department appearing in their Sparks hub. Plus, M&S’s Coffee Stamp scheme will soon be reinstated across its cafés, giving customers who have collected their six stamps a free coffee.

In addition, M&S will be giving out over 1.8 million birthday treats to those celebrating their birthday this month, as well as a belated birthday treat for customers who had celebrations in May or June when its systems were down following the attack. Customers will be able to choose from popular M&S Food products, including Percy Pigs, Prosecco, and biscuits.

And this weekend, M&S will also bolster its 20% employee discount to 30% for four days for its 63,000 staff to be used across its Fashion, Home & Beauty departments. For the first time outside of Christmas, M&S will extend the 10% discount to over 2,500 contractors from across its supply chain and partners.

Sharry Cramond, Director of Loyalty, Fashion, Home & Beauty Marketing and Masterbrand, said: “Over the last three months, our colleagues have demonstrated real commitment and teamwork. At the same time, our customers have shown us fantastic support and loyalty. These extra Sparks rewards are a small gesture to say thank you.”
