Screwfix Opens First Stores In Ireland

Kingfisher’s Screwfix business has opened its first physical stores in the Republic of Ireland.

The first three outlets are based in Sandyford and Swords in Dublin, and Waterford. Another store will open in Ennis, Co Clare, early next year with longer term plans for 40 outlets.

Screwfix already had online operation in the country.

Each of the new stores will stock around 10,000 trade and DIY hardware products, with 24,000 available to order online.

Screwfix CEO, John Mewett, said: “The creation of bricks and mortar stores in Ireland is a major milestone for us and a direct result of the increasing demand from Irish tradespeople for our fantastic range of products. Our Irish customers are already committed to our Screwfix.ie website, but we know the convenience a Screwfix store provides their local town.”

Whilst Kingfisher’s B&Q chain has struggled in recent years, the Screwfix format has seen rapid growth with 650 outlets now operating.
