WH Smith has appointed Max Izzard as its next Chief Financial Officer. He will replace Robert Moorhead, who is retiring from his role as CFO and COO after more than 20 years with the retailer.
Izzard is currently SVP Group and Corporate Finance at luxury brand Burberry. He will join WH Smith on 1 September 2024, with Moorhead stepping down from the company’s board on 30 November.
After praising Moorhead’s contribution to the business, Carl Cowling, WH Smith’s CEO commented: “I look forward to working with Max, who has a strong background and a wealth of expertise in a variety of international businesses, and I know he will contribute to the continued success of the company.”
Izzard added: “I have admired the transformation of the business and I am excited to be joining one of the world’s leading travel retailers. I look forward to working closely with Carl and the leadership team to help deliver continuing success for our shareholders and other stakeholders.”
WH Smith recently posted a 28% jump in full-year revenue to £1.79bn after its stores in travel locations such as airports and train stations bounced back from the effects of the pandemic.
