Wilko Agrees Deal With Deliveroo

Wilko has become the latest retailer to partner with Deliveroo Shopping. The rapid delivery platform will offer over 3,000 Wilko products on its app, including garden, home, kitchen, DIY, cleaning, petcare, and storage lines, which can be delivered in as little as 25 minutes.

Initially launching across 10 Wilko hub locations this month – Edinburgh, Bristol, Nottingham, Bournemouth, Eccles, Manchester, Bedford, Harlow, Plymouth and Leeds – this will be the first time Wilko has offered an on-demand delivery service. The partnership is expected to be expanded to a further 50 locations across the country by the end of the year.

After acquiring the brand out of administration last October, CDS Superstores has relaunched Wilko’s online store and opened six bricks & mortar outlets. The first batch of stores are all said to be making a profit, with the group targeting around 300 sites. One of Wilko’s next openings will mark its return to London, with a site in the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Uxbridge due to open on 22nd November.

Commenting on the Deliveroo deal, Alex Simpkin, Group Chief Executive Officer at CDS Superstores, said: “It’s great to be making Wilko so much more accessible to its loyal customer base.

“There’s a huge love for the brand, and while we continue to open new stores, this partnership gives us the opportunity to reach people quicker. All the great things you expect from Wilko and more in as little as 25 minutes!”.

Deliveroo Shopping was launched in November 2023 to move the platform’s operations beyond its core restaurant food and grocery delivery market to cover categories including pharmacy, DIY, homeware, toys, and petcare.

Eric French, Chief Operating Officer at Deliveroo, added: “It’s fantastic to welcome family favourite Wilko onto Deliveroo, and to offer their huge range of household essentials for delivery in as little as 25 minutes. Our customers really value the convenience of having the high street brought to their doorstep, and that’s why we’re excited to continue these partnerships with well-loved retailers like Wilko as we expand ‘Deliveroo Shopping’ and add more selection for our customers.”

NAM Implications:
  • The Wilko brand patently refuses to lie down…
  • …and the ability to access from a selection of 3,000 Wilko products in 25 minutes, has to appeal.
  • A rapid roll-out will prove the point…
