Just over a year after the collapse of the Wilko chain, the brand has returned to London with its new owners opening a store in Uxbridge.
The 30,000 sq. ft. outlet inside The Pavilions Shopping Centre covers two floors and stocks the retailer’s full range of cleaning and laundry, decorating and DIY, home and garden, and pet care products.
After acquiring the brand out of administration last October, CDS Superstores has relaunched Wilko’s online store and opened seven bricks & mortar outlets. CDS, which also owns The Range, recently revealed that the first batch of stores are all making a profit, with the group targeting around 300 sites in the longer term.
Commenting on the latest opening, Alex Simpkin, Chief Executive of CDS Superstores, said: “We’re thrilled with the warm welcome we’ve received in Uxbridge today, marking a very positive start to our residence here at The Pavilions.
“It’s great to see the local community’s enthusiasm for Wilko’s return, and we’re determined to continue providing quality products at great value prices as even more shoppers visit our Uxbridge store in the coming months.”
Earlier this month, CDS Superstores added Homebase to its portfolio when it snapped the DIY chain’s IP and up to 70 stores in a pre-pack deal.
