Wilko has confirmed that it will open its sixth store on Friday as new owner, CDS Superstores, continues to rebuild the brand’s estate.
The household and garden retailer’s next store is located in Poole, Dorset, with the opening set to be marked with prizes and goody bags for the first 50 shoppers in the queue.
The 23,500 sq. ft. store, situated at the Dolphin Centre, will also feature an Iceland concession and a facility for shoppers to browse and order from the 100,000 items available from Wilko’s online store.
The Poole site is one of the brand’s new concept stores and follows openings in Exeter, Luton, Plymouth, St Albans, and Rotherham.
Chris Dawson, the billionaire businessman who owns CDS Superstores, has previously suggested that the Wilko estate could eventually reach 300 sites. The retailer had around 400 stores when it collapsed last summer.
NAM Implications:
- Slowly but surely, progress on an estate rebuild…
- …to optimise residual Wilko-brand values.
