Boots has launched its Boots Advantage Card in a digital format as part of its ongoing moves to modernise its operations and provide shoppers with easier access to personalised offers.
The long-running loyalty scheme will now be part of the Boots App, meaning shoppers can scan to collect points, redeem, and check their points balance straight from their smartphone. Boots highlighted that they can also tap into the wider benefits of the app, like personalised offers on the go.
Launched in 1997, the Boots Advantage Card has 17.1 million active members after 1.5 million joined the scheme last year.
Helen Normoyle, Marketing Director at Boots UK, said: “We are continuing to build on the phenomenal success of the Boots Advantage Card. Digitising the card makes it more flexible and available, and gives customers more opportunities to tailor and personalise offers, making their shop even more rewarding.”
The retailer stressed that the digital launch is one of a number of new loyalty initiatives planned for the coming months to make shopping at Boots “more personalised and relevant”. These will include in-store marketing and customer competitions with big points prizes for card holders.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Boots UK suffered a significant fall in profits last year as weakening sales and pressure on margins to remain competitive took its toll.
