Superdrug Expands Price Freeze Pledge

Superdrug has announced that it is freezing the price of an additional 5,000 beauty items until the end of the year as part of its efforts to support consumers being squeezed by rising inflation.

The health & beauty retailer had already frozen the price of over 130 own brand lines earlier this year. The latest price freeze pledge includes leading cosmetics brands such as Maybelline, Rimmel, Revolution, e.l.f, NYX PMU, and smaller and exclusive brands like Bourjois, Revolution Pro and Juvias Place.

Simon Comins, Chief Commercial Officer at Superdrug commented: “We’ve seen that consumers are finding a way to navigate the current economic climate and are looking for great value and recommendations on how to shop smarter and more cost-effectively during this time. By taking this next step with our price freeze we hope that our customers can purchase items that provide them with a little happiness and escapism, with the knowledge that our prices won’t change.”

Other money-saving initiatives introduced by Superdrug in recent months include Feel Good Friday’s, offering special deals for members of its loyalty scheme, Star Buys, weekly market-leading prices on selected products, and exclusive offers on Treat Thursday’s. In addition, the retailer has implemented several discounts to help staff and their families.

Megan Potter, Trading Director at Superdrug, added: “We’re committed to supporting shoppers and colleagues in every way we can. We know our shoppers will be looking to purchase cosmetics in the lead up to Halloween and Christmas and so have taken the decision to freeze prices across all 5,000 cosmetic SKUs until the end of the year in a promise to our customers that prices will not rise during this time.”
