Meat processor ABP was crowned Own Label Supplier of the Year Award at The Grocer Gold Awards in London earlier this week.
ABP was said to have been chosen by the panel, which included CEO’s and commercial directors from the UK’s leading supermarkets, wholesalers and buying groups, for its breadth of category support, insight and day-to-day service.
Commenting on the award, Tom Kirwan, Managing Director of ABP UK said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive such recognition from the retail industry in such a fiercely contested category.
“It is a real endorsement of our commitment to doing the right thing for the customer by all of our colleagues in ABP’s UK’s operations and across the wider ABP Group.”
In the past year, ABP UK has led on innovation including the opening of a ‘Ready to Cook’ facility in Shropshire, the launch of cook in the bag sausages and a licensing agreement with Warner Brothers Consumer Products for a range of DC superhero fresh and frozen burgers.
In February, ABP also introduced its first fresh plant-based meat-free brand for distribution in the UK, under name ‘Equals’.
