BrewDog Makes Acquisition In Germany

Scottish craft beer giant BrewDog has boosted its international growth plans with the acquisition of a brewery and taproom in Germany from US-based Stone Brewing.

Located in the Mariendorf neighbourhood of Berlin, the facility contains a 100hl brewhouse, a 10hl pilot brewing system as well as a taproom and beer garden.

The site will now be refurbished with BrewDog moving in on 1 May.

The company has had a bar in Berlin since 2017 and will be opening a site in Hamburg this June.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: “We are really excited to become a small part of the craft beer movement in Germany and the German beer scene overall and we are also really excited to be part of the Mariendorf community.

“Beer, people and community have always been the foundations of our business and that is what we will be focusing on in Berlin too as we look to share our passion for craft beer with as many people as we can.”

BrewDog is already the largest craft brewer in Europe and has been growing its operations across the world in recent years. The company has just launched its latest ‘Equity for Punks’ crowdfunding round aimed at raising £7m for its breweries, bars and other projects.
