Britvic Agrees 10-Year Contract Renewal With Wincanton

Soft drinks manufacturer Britvic has extended its contract with supply chain firm Wincanton for 10 years in a deal that will take their partnership into its 40th year.

The two companies began working together in 1994, and the new contract will see Wincanton continuing to provide storage and distribution services for Britvic, the owner of brands including Robinsons, J2O and Tango.

Over the next decade, Britvic is expected to benefit from Wincanton making a significant investment in automation to increase productivity, capacity, and capability at Britvic’s national distribution centre in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

The extended contract will also see Wincanton continue to manage Britvic’s fully-automated warehouse facility in Rugby, Warwickshire. Together, the two sites despatch a combined 650,000 cases of Britvic products daily.

James Hurrell, Managing Director of Grocery and Consumer at Wincanton, commented:  “Extending our long-standing relationship with Britvic into its fourth decade is a proud milestone for Wincanton as we see our partnership with one of the UK’s most popular beverage manufacturers go from strength-to-strength. We are looking forward to investing in a resilient and innovative platform for growth for Britvic in the UK, underpinned by our shared values around people, planet and performance.”

Nigel Paine, Supply Chain Director at Britvic, added: “We’re pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with Wincanton. Their excellent site management and shared values across our people, planet, and performance pillars have been important to our success. We look forward to the continued innovation and efficiency this partnership will bring to our supply chain.”

Earlier this week, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) gave the green light to Carlsberg’s £3.3bn acquisition of Britvic.
