Personal care and beauty product manufacturer Creightons has announced the acquisition of Emma Hardie Limited, the maker of skincare products sold by the likes of Boots and M&S.
Founded in 2009, Emma Hardie Skincare focuses on creating natural, cruelty-free products. The brand is now sold throughout the UK, Europe, USA, and Asia Pacific with a turnover of nearly £4m last year.
The deal with Creightons, which makes numerous skincare and haircare ranges, is worth around £6.4m. The company said the acquisition represented an important development for the business, with the addition of a premium skincare brand with an established consumer base.
Creightons added that there are both manufacturing and management synergies that will drive a higher return from the brand, as well as opportunities for extending its distribution in the UK market and overseas. “Our in-house development and brand teams will also be able to extend the bandwidth of the brand offering, to drive sales expansion and margin opportunities,” the company said.
Creightons has retained the services of Barry Cook, former Managing Director of Emma Hardie, in order to facilitate a smooth transition and develop new sales opportunities.
Bernard Johnson, Managing Director of the company, commented: “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Emma Hardie Limited which represents a significant investment in a premium skincare business with an impressive digital customer base. It is consistent with our strategy to develop our branded business which we have identified as a key driver for growth in the future.”
