General Mills, the owner of brands such as Cheerios, Nature Valley, and Old El Paso, has appointed Rob Owen as its new UK & Ireland Sales Director, effective from today. Owen joins the business from Standout Field Marketing where he served as Managing Director.
The group stated that Owens’ “rich and diverse background” will further strengthen General Mills’ capacity to “pursue innovative market-growth strategies in partnership with their customers”.
Owen’s career spans several roles in the FMCG sector including a decade-long tenure at Unilever in various sales roles in the UK, more recently as Sales Director for Central and Eastern Europe. Earlier in his career, he developed a foundation in customer relations and category expertise at Treasury Wines.
Speaking on his appointment, Owen said: “I am truly delighted to be joining General Mills, a company renowned for its exceptional people and outstanding brands. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to a business that values strong, collaborative partnerships across the trade, and I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive tangible results and strategic growth in partnership with our customers.”
Owen will succeed Simon Fisher, who has been promoted to the role of Commercial Director, leading the day-to-day running of the company’s UK & Ireland organisation.
