Müller And 2 Sisters Food Launch Major Recruitment Drives

Müller and the 2 Sisters Food Group have become the latest food manufacturers to launch recruitment drives to meet the high levels of demand caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Müller is looking for 300 additional key workers after seeing a jump sales of its dairy products like fresh milk, yogurts and butter.

The group stated that it had already significantly raised its total output but with demand expected to remain high, and some workers absent due to self-isolation, the business is now in need of more staff to work in its manufacturing and delivery operations.

Bergen Merey, Chief Executive Officer at Müller Yogurt & Desserts said: “Dairy is the cornerstone of Britain’s food industry, so our products and supply chain have a major role to play in helping to feed the nation. This is no longer simply a duty, this is now an obligation.

“Our message is simple, if you’re available and have the necessary skills and qualifications, then we’d love to hear from you.”

Meanwhile, 2 Sisters Food has launched a recruitment drive at multiple sites across its business, with roles in packaging, dispatch and preparation.

A 2 Sisters spokesperson said: “The government has rightly classified our colleagues in a critical sector and we are currently working in extremely challenging conditions to full orders at the same time as keeping everyone safe.

“The business is experiencing unprecedented levels of demand for food across its division – poultry, meals solutions and bakery – so we are very keen to help those who may be out of work as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.”

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that some food manufacturers have had to boost production by 50% to cope with consumers panic-buying during the coronavirus crisis.
