Nestlé Investing Over £150m In UK Petfood Factory

Nestlé has revealed that it is investing more than £150m in its Purina PetCare factory in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.

The UK site makes leading pet food brands, including Felix, Gourmet and Winalot.

Works are already underway, with completion expected in early 2025. This includes installing the latest technology and machinery on its existing production lines, a revamp of facilities for the factory’s 600 workers, and initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

The investment will see the factory recruit 40 new staff to maintain the new technology being introduced as part of the upgrades.

Nestlé noted that Pet care is a strong growth category for the group, accounting for around 20% of its total sales, up from around 12% a decade ago. The company has recently announced a number of significant investments in petcare sites, including facilities in the US, Brazil and Hungary.
